Origin:   Western Polynesia, Fiji  (Provenance: Purchased at Sotheby's about 20-25 years ago.  Someone may recognize it from a past auction?  It would be valuable to find out since these often have a listed provenance.)

Period/Date:   Likely 18th C. 

Materials:  Vesi wood, human tooth, Natural sap adhesive

Description:  Freeform head with bulbous lobes and valleys resembling melting lava!  Tooth inlay guaranteed original.  Remains of an ancient paper label on shaft.  Slender and highly worn shaft and handgrip having a high polish from handling.  A custom stand maybe ordered for a fee.
